Auto-Tune has been around for decades now and is a game changing production tool. Love it or hate it, it’s here to stay.
But HOW you use it can make or break your vocal tracks.
Most people want to use Autotune in a natural, discrete manner so that the listener never knows that there was any pitch correction. This tutorial will show you how to do that.
At the end of the video I’ll also show you how to get that obvious T-Pain or Cher AutoTune effect – in case you want to go in that direction!
I was curious about this! Thanks Graham!
Thank you Graham…you are a very “giving” cat. The vital role of the Retune Speed is Gold!! What are they doing with Drake..I believe it is a little more than just Melodyne, Antares, etc. What is your take? I get some R&B kids that come to my set up and want “Drake”. Thank you again, Steven Barry
tX for that. nobody can do that like this in my area. I like more natural stuff and rough but I really like your lessons. thank you.
I’m not sure if you know how much these videos mean to some of us. Always very well made and very informative. Thanks for all the hard work you put into helping others.
Glad to help Derek!
If you want more the weird FX of Auto tune, use 2 devices in series. On the first one you set the Detune parameter a little lower then 440, forcing melody to sound flatter and the other one with a speed tune all the way fast. You’re going to accentuate the tuning FX.
So helpful! Thank you 🙂 I have Melodyne. Can it also do this live tuning? I’ve only ever done post processing with it: shifting notes manually or “quantising pitch” to a certain percentage of accuracy. But this “live” style of tuning is SUPER helpful. Can Melodyne do this? Thanks for all your videos!!
As far as I know Melodyne can not be used in real time like AutoTune
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, Graham 🙂
Hello Kevin, GSnap is a free one plugin. It can do, but you must see if it´s good for you
Thanks so much Gerd! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this and great to hear a fellow Christian musician.
