If there’s one rule for backing vocals in a mix it’s this: support the lead vocal, don’t compete with it.

As much as I love doubles, harmonies, and any other type of background vocal (I used to sing in an all-male a cappella group for 4 years for goodness sake!) I never let them sit side by side with the lead vocal. They need to be tucked under.

So, in today’s video, I’m going to show you a simple little trick you can use to make your backing vocals fit nice and snug alongside your lead and never take over.
