5 Minutes To A Better Mix: Reverse Crash - Part 28 of 31

2011 May 28, 2011

As you begin wrapping up your mix, your goal is to keep transitions from section to section (verse to chorus to bridge, etc) as smooth as possible. If each part of a song is mixed well but there are abrupt changes from section to section then you’re not quite done with the mix.

The Cymbals Push You Forward

One of the simplest and fastest ways I know to get a nice transition into an otherwise abrupt downbeat is to use a cymbal swell. This can either be a recording or sample of cymbal roll, or a simple crash cymbal that’s been reversed in your audio editor. Enjoy the video!
