Mixing Vocals To Sit Upfront

If your song has vocals, you generally want them to sit upfront in the mix. Right in the listener’s face.

But on their own, without the right processing, most vocals won’t sound like that. They are simply too dynamic of an instrument.

The key to that upfront sound is compression, specifically something I call stacked compression. And today I want to show you how it works.
